WEATHER
The Jindabyne area prevailing wind is generally from the northwest. If the wind strength is 25kts + from the NW to SW expect strong sink on 30 and severe to extreme turbulence in the Jindabyne Valley. It is not recommended to approach the Jindabyne area in GA aircraft if Westerly winds aloft exceed 25 kts, less for LSA etc, unless you are very experienced and familiar with the area and you and your aircraft are capable of handling the conditions.
Rotor activity will be present in SW-NW winds over 25kts. Generally there will be a primary rotor in the Thredbo Valley and a secondary rotor in the Jindabyne Valley & over the lake. This secondary rotor seems to catch pilots over the lake near the township. Don’t ask me how I know this!
There is no AWIS at Jindabyne. The Cooma AWIS will generally report wind strength from 5%-25% below actual strength at YJIN. Temperature at Jindabyne generally about 1-2 deg. lower than Cooma. Underground wx

AIRCRAFT PARKING
Designated aircraft parking area at the eastern end of the main runway near the main gate, in the lee of a large embankment. Park aircraft facing into the prevailing Westerly winds. Own tie downs required. Generally, parking is ok anywhere off the runways but watch out for rabbit holes, depressions, rocks and stumps.
