The grand opening of the Jindabyne Community Aerodrome was held on the Easter weekend of 1993 after many years of hard work by a dedicated club and the many that came to lend a hand in the fashion of the Man From Snowy River.
It was a huge event involving most of the community and many notable public figures including councillors, politicians and famous personalities. All of whom expressed their great satisfaction and pride at the accomplishments of the Club and the community.
Councillor and local identity, Tom Barry, said that the Aerodrome was a great facility that would serve the Snowy Mountains, the people of Jindabyne, the ski industry, and that it would be a public utility that would be there for all kinds of emergencies and opportunities.
Nearly twenty years later Tom's words have proven to be quite prophetic! The Jindabyne Community Aerodrome has been utilised by various emergency services for just about every major event that has happened in the following years.
